About the Role

The Patient Service Representative (PSR) is the first point of contact for patients, responsible for ensuring a unique patient experience through exceptional customer service. This role involves various reception and registration duties, with a need for weekend coverage and occasional evening availability.

Responsibilities

• Verify appointment and insurance information, entering registration details into Medent.
• Perform registration for new and follow-up patients, gathering demographic, insurance, and payment information.
• Explain insurance eligibility and coverages to patients.
• Collect copays, balance cash drawers, and log financial totals.
• Collect past due payments.
• Verify insurance three days in advance via HealtheNet.
• Meet daily insurance verification quotas.
• Adapt to changing patient volumes and doctor schedules.
• Liaise between patients and the billing department for billing inquiries.
• Retrieve registrations through the patient portal.
• Apply knowledge of medical and orthopedic terminology.
• Utilize EMR and practice management software.
• Perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of medical office experience.
• Patient registration experience desired.
• EMR experience required.
• MEDENT experience preferred.
• Manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination for data entry and office equipment operation.
• Corrected vision and hearing within normal range for patient and staff communication.
• Ability to remain stationary for prolonged periods, often sitting while working with office equipment.
• Occasional standing and walking.
• Occasional lifting and carrying of items up to 10 pounds.
