About the Role
Support oversight of market risk in the second line of defense on the Rates business line, contributing to the success of the Trade Floor Risk Management / Global Risk Management department in the UK. Ensure all activities comply with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Identify and assess market risks in the Rates businesses, ensuring consistency with the Bank's risk appetite and approved business mandate.
- Develop ad hoc risk analysis to support the Business.
- Act as the first point of contact with the London Rates desk on limits, exceptions, and strategy.
- Scrutinize daily P&L of London business to understand risk-taking activities and valuation issues, partnering with Product Control on P&L attribution.
- Ensure accuracy of reported VaR and Stress Test results for London Rates, performing desk-level investigations.
- Verify proper portfolio valuation in accordance with Bank standards, including execution and documentation of valuation processes.
- Prepare analysis and recommendations on new products and market risk limit issues for the Market Risk Management and Policy Committee.
- Monitor daily limits for compliance with regulatory MIFID II and OSFI reporting.
- Enhance and improve current reporting processes with other control functions.
- Work in partnership with Trading Desk, Product Control, Operations, and peer TFRM teams.
- Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Pursue effective and efficient operations, ensuring adequacy and adherence to business controls for operational risk, regulatory compliance, AML/ATF, and conduct risk.
- Contribute to a high-performance and inclusive work environment, supporting team vision, values, and business strategy.
Requirements
- Solid experience of Risk Management related experience in the financial services industry.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of fixed income and rates products (bonds, swaps, inflation & vol products and e-trading/algo).
- Good understanding of risk metrics (sensitivities, VaR).
- Passionate about market developments across asset classes.
- Strong numerical and computational skills required particularly in Python, GenAI, Bloomberg API and MS apps.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
