About the Role
Engineering interns support the Technical Services Division in delivering services for customers. Interns gain exposure to office and field environments within various electrical settings, including utility substations, wind farms, and treatment plants. This internship provides opportunities to apply classroom learning to real-world professional situations.
Responsibilities
- Attend project meetings
- Prepare project documentation including drawings, test sheets, and schedules
- Conduct site visits with assigned supervisor
- Gain hands-on field experience by participating in testing and commissioning tasks
- Assist electricians with lift/land logs and wiring changes
- Perform relay testing
- Conduct communication and automation testing
- Work on field engineering drawings
- Perform drawing markups
- Assist teams with apparatus testing
- Perform general troubleshooting
- Create data collection and one-line diagrams for field teams
- Create electrical models for engineering studies
- Assist with creating engineering reports
- Analyze electrical waveforms and COMTRADE files for post-event analysis
- Assist engineering team with troubleshooting and emergency calls
Requirements
- Current student as a sophomore – graduate level actively enrolled in an engineering or related undergraduate or graduate program
- Desire to work in, or explore the field of electrical engineering
- Completed relevant coursework applicable to experiential learning
- Strong technical writing, analytical, and communication skills
- Detail-oriented with a strong emphasis on quality work deliverables
- Strong work ethic and a high level of integrity
