About the Role
Assist in maintaining an injury-free workplace and ensure safety. Work with the Commercial team to apply legal and regulatory principles in construction and manufacturing. Develop knowledge in budgeting, cost control, sustainability, income, and expenditure for construction projects. Enable continuous improvement of projects and the manufacturing facility. Develop analytical, logical, and problem-solving skills. Produce financial project progress reports, including cost forecasts.
Responsibilities
- Prepare internal commercial reporting and other required reports.
- Forecast future revenue, costs, and cashflow, challenging them before submission to finance and identifying improvement opportunities.
- Negotiate and agree final accounts.
- Identify and act upon opportunities to improve internal systems and processes.
- Ensure accurate reporting of Work in Progress (WIP) in the accounts.
- Manage the commercial team and submit applications to clients for invoicing approval, utilizing job management software.
- Handle contractual frameworks and standard forms of contract.
- Identify and act upon opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates, and products to enhance client services.
- Monitor and measure actual expenditure against budgeted project expenditure using CVR (Cost Value Reconciliation Reports).
- Oversee subcontractor management, including onboarding and timely payments.
- Track future order book pipeline to assess forecast achievability.
- Provide mentoring and guidance to Assistant Quantity Surveyors and Quantity Surveyors on legal, technical, and procedural issues, ensuring adherence to quality management and office procedures.
- Participate in identifying areas of risk/scope and develop/monitor them with project teams and the manufacturing facility.
Requirements
- BSc Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management or similar.
- Experience as a Commercial Manager within a Contractor or Sub-Contractor organisation.
- Working knowledge of NEC and JCT forms of contract.
- Multi-site experience.
- Experienced in holding responsibility for a project including all internal / external reporting.
- Experience in the M&E market.
