About the Role

This internship supports the planning stages of annual fundraising events, focusing on business development, non-profit management, and event planning. The role involves assisting with outreach for auction items, social media content creation, event collateral updates, vendor research, event logistics, and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Support special event logistics including publicity, communication, show flow, and day-of preparation.
  • Assist in securing auction items and in-kind donations.
  • Support all development-related e-communications.
  • Research potential sponsors aligned with Best Buddies' mission and DEI initiatives.
  • Assist in planning event details and logistics for supporting events.
  • Assist with planning local fundraisers and third-party events.
  • Send out thank you notes.
  • Attend supporting events during the internship.
  • Assist with website and social media content.
  • Support staff with taking photos at events and creating social media content (Instagram Posts, Stories, Reels, TikToks).
  • Assist in preparation for the Best Buddies Leadership Conference.
  • Assist in developing and executing events, including summer engagement opportunities and ambassador social events.
  • Assist in managing the area friendship program in the Salesforce database.
  • Assist in planning the Fall semester events calendar and preparing materials.
  • Work with Program Managers to create a plan for the upcoming school year.
  • Collaborate on Best Buddies 360.

Requirements

  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of social media.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Comfortable engaging with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
  • Comfortable making asks to potential sponsors and businesses.
