About the Role

The Lead, Access Marketing, IZERVAY is responsible for educating ophthalmology practices on identifying, evaluating, and treating appropriate Geographic Atrophy (GA) patients through operational excellence and workflow optimization. This role requires a strategic, execution-oriented access marketer with a strong understanding of the U.S. retina practice environment, buy-and-bill dynamics, patient access workflows, and the operational barriers that impact treatment initiation and continuity.

Responsibilities

  • Lead insight generation through market research, advisory boards, field feedback, claims data, and customer engagement to identify operational barriers and prioritize solutions.
  • Identify, synthesize, and codify best-in-class GA treatment operations from high-performing ophthalmology and retina practices into a practical, replicable playbook.
  • Develop workflow tools, operational checklists, patient journey resources, and staff education materials to help practices integrate GA treatment into existing clinic operations.
  • Create impactful marketing resources that communicate the burden of GA, elevate urgency around appropriate patient identification, and support practices in identifying and activating eligible patients.
  • Design and lead execution of speaker programs, peer-to-peer content, and non-personal promotion.
  • Ensure effective and compliant communication of the Ophthalmology GPO pricing rebate program.
  • Develop KPIs and performance dashboards to evaluate program reach, engagement, practice adoption, customer satisfaction, and overall business impact.
  • Partner with national and regional key account leads to develop customer engagement strategies for practice administrators, C-suite leaders, and office managers.
  • Manage agency partners, budgets, timelines, MAP/MLR submissions, and executional trade-offs while ensuring all activities comply with Astellas policies and applicable legal, regulatory, privacy, and promotional requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 12+ years of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, market access, brand marketing, customer marketing, or relevant healthcare commercialization experience in the U.S.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing market access marketing strategies and related customer-facing tools and field resources.
  • Proven ability to synthesize customer insights, market research, claims data, and field feedback into clear strategies, practical resources, and measurable action plans.
  • Strong understanding of the U.S. healthcare system, managed markets, reimbursement dynamics, GPO dynamics, and buy-and-bill provider economics.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex cross-functional projects in a matrixed organization and influence without direct authority.
  • Experience managing agencies, budgets, timelines, promotional review processes, and multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • Ability to present complex access, reimbursement, pricing, rebate, and operational issues clearly to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, accountability, and ability to deliver business results through teams and partners.
