About the Role

Family Life Academy Charter School (FLACS) is seeking a Physical Education Teacher (9-12) to implement and promote a physical education curriculum through exercise, organized games, and challenges. The role involves motivating students, developing motor skills, and ensuring alignment with New York State Physical Education Learning Standards.

Responsibilities

Creates rigorous, standards-based, culturally relevant lesson plans that foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and knowledge of physical fitness.
Utilizes student-centered instructional strategies to engage students and differentiate teaching based on diverse needs, including students with disabilities and ELLs.
Implements units using common network curriculum resources, maps, frameworks, pacing documents, and instructional philosophies.
Analyzes data from formative and summative assessments to refine instructional practices and impact student achievement.
Maintains strong classroom management and implements school-wide policies and procedures to ensure a safe, caring, and orderly school environment.
Establishes a classroom culture of caring, respect, and rapport that holds all students to high academic standards, promotes inclusion, fosters a love of learning, and builds positive relationships.
Grades student work, provides actionable feedback, and promptly enters grades into online systems.
Actively identifies students’ strengths and challenge areas and communicates these effectively with families.
Participates in professional development, professional learning communities, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions.
Shares best practices with colleagues through participation in professional learning communities, grade-level or content teams, and cross-school groups.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
Prior satisfactory teaching experience preferred.
New York State Certification in Physical Education (all grades).
Clearance for fingerprint and criminal background check.
