About the Role

The Métis Family Centered Program (MFCP) Specialist will support the development and implementation of the Métis Family Centered Program, identifying program gaps, challenges, and evaluating ongoing risks. The Specialist will support program implementation through resource development, infrastructure support, training, and program evaluation to identify risks and trends that hinder family reunification.

Responsibilities

  • Support the ongoing growth of the Métis Family Centered Program, including facilitating improvements in infrastructure, resources, tools, and processes.
  • Spearhead the implementation and expansion of the child and family services portfolio under the direction of the manager.
  • Engage regularly with frontline staff, community members, and sector partners to ensure the program reflects Métis needs and priorities.
  • Provide recommendations to address service gaps, barriers, and challenges.
  • Support program work with sector partners to develop a province-wide Protocol.
  • Engage in partnerships within the child welfare sector to enhance service quality and accessibility for Métis communities.
  • Develop, plan, and facilitate knowledge sharing and capacity-building opportunities for MNO staff and Citizens.
  • Develop, plan, and facilitate knowledge workshops with Children’s Aid Societies and Indigenous Child Wellbeing Agencies.
  • Support the program and manager in rolling out initiatives, resources, and activities.
  • Evaluate program activities and efficacy to identify risks and provide recommendations for mitigation.
  • Provide high-level written and verbal briefings to the manager for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Promote the organization's values by demonstrating positive and professional relationships.
  • Report all unsafe conditions, hazards, or practices, accidents, and incidents in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Perform other job/branch-related duties as required.

Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years of experience working with children, youth, and families.
  • Knowledge of the Métis Nation of Ontario and its programs.
  • Familiarity with the child welfare sector in Ontario, including awareness of history and challenges specific to FNIM children, youth, and families.
  • Working knowledge of the Child, Youth, and Family Services Act (CYFSA), including awareness of history and challenges specific to FNIM children, youth, and families.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong desire to serve Métis Citizens and uphold rights and culture.
  • Understanding of Métis culture and communities.
  • A high degree of technology literacy and proficiency in standard office equipment.
  • Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Superior organization and time management skills.
  • High levels of problem-solving and analytical skills.
