About the Role

This role focuses on creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and supporting daily grocery operations. It involves directing department functions and embracing a customer-first strategy while upholding company core values.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines, ensuring proper temperatures and maintaining logs.
  • Report safety risks, illegal activity, and notify management of accidents.
  • Train department associates on inventory/stocking and Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO).
  • Plan, organize, and supervise the inventory process.
  • Schedule and implement daily, weekly, and monthly price changes by updating shelf tags and promotional signs.
  • Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
  • Assist store management with department budget, profit and loss reviews, and financial report actions.
  • Monitor and control department expenses.
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
  • Implement the period promotional plan for the department.
  • Prepare and submit seasonal critiques for the sales and merchandising supervisor.
  • Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management.
  • Understand store layout and product locations.
  • Gain and maintain product knowledge within the department and respond to customer questions and suggestions.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
  • Train and develop associates on job performance and participate in the performance appraisal process.
  • Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume.
  • Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to achieve company/store goals.
  • Communicate company, department, and job-specific information to associates.
  • Supervise and coach direct reports, complete performance reviews, and provide feedback.
  • Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Manage conflict reasonably, non-confrontationally, and cooperatively.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve customer and business issues.
  • Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.
  • Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
