About the Role
Envision Education seeks a College Advisor to foster a college-going culture and guide students through the college application and transition process to college and careers.
Responsibilities
- Support and guide 12th-grade students through the college and financial aid application process.
- Provide career readiness curriculum for advisories in all grade levels.
- Research special opportunities for low-income students in the college search and application process.
- Build partnerships with college admissions and career placement services.
- Plan and lead workshops for parents and stakeholders on college admissions topics.
- Engage in monthly self-reflection and professional goal setting.
- Advise seniors through the admissions cycle, including college list creation, personal statement writing, financial aid advising, and matriculation decisions.
- Write and manage the collection of Letters of Recommendation for all seniors.
- Implement individual support efforts for students outside of academic success.
- Collaborate with Administration to monitor, collect, and analyze data on case management and support efforts.
- Contact and meet with campus admissions representatives to build relationships and market Envision.
- Become familiar with college environments to recommend suitable matches for seniors.
- Develop and maintain a network of college admission professionals.
- Ensure a robust group of colleges visit the Envision campus and meet with students.
Requirements
- Commitment to the mission of Envision Education.
- Commitment to anti-racist and pro-Black ideologies in the workplace.
- 1+ years of experience providing academic, career, and/or college mentorship/advising services to high school students.
- Demonstrated success working with parents and families, especially Black, African American, Latino/a/x, and immigrant families.
- Receptiveness to feedback and desire to continuously improve.
- Agreement to earn a PPS (Pupil Personnel Services) within 5 years if not already enrolled.
