About the Role
The Nurse Technician assists with patient care, performs clinical tasks, manages room turnover, and responds to emergencies within the Emergency Department.
Responsibilities
- Assists with patient mobility, bathing, feeding, and personal hygiene needs.
- Obtains vital signs, performs EKGs, draws blood (phlebotomy), and collects lab specimens.
- Restocks trauma bays, sanitizes exam rooms, and sets up specialized medical equipment.
- Assists in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and critical codes.
- Performs 1:1 observation with psychiatric and/or high-risk safety patients.
- Alerts nurse and/or doctors of abnormal cardiac rhythms, abnormal vital signs, and observation of deterioration of patients.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalency Required
- Minimum of 1 year job-related experience.
- Completion of Phlebotomy and EKG Training Program.
- Completion of Nurse Technician Program
- Legible handwriting
- Good communication skills (written, verbal and telephone)
- BLS required
