About the Role
Zinc is seeking a dedicated DevOps engineer to maintain and extend its platform offerings, improve developer experience, and revamp architecture, CI pipelines, and deployment strategy to support the growth of the engineering function.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Platform Lead to understand business requirements and the current engineering function.
- Identify and modernize application areas to achieve a scalable architecture.
- Define new tools and policies to improve Developer Experience and drive quality.
- Collaborate with the Platform Lead to plan strategic improvements to the Zinc Platform.
- Ensure platform pipelines follow best practices and maintain team velocity.
- Architect future revamps of the tech stack.
- Proactively solve engineering problems.
Requirements
- Strategic thinker comfortable working with a Platform Lead and wearing multiple hats.
- Wide-ranging experience across DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering.
- Adept at working with Typescript codebases.
- Good understanding of YAML within CI/CD pipelines.
- Comfortable working with containers and container orchestration (AWS ECS).
- Experience debugging and understanding performance issues within Javascript.
- Good understanding of functional programming.
- Experience with Terraform or comparable IaC tooling.
- Strong communication skills, able to work with technical and non-technical team members.
- Strong cloud skills (AWS preferred, but experience with other cloud providers is welcome).
