About the Role
The QA Technician I performs inspections to ensure food safety and quality compliance across all operational areas at G&C Foods.
Responsibilities
- Continually inspect all operational areas for cGMP compliance.
- Verify completion of tasks and paperwork related to the SQF system; gather, review, and file quality and food safety records.
- Support site Food Safety program, HACCP plans, and CCPs.
- Place nonconforming product on hold, provide guidance for product rework, and release product.
- Provide confirmatory checks of all Critical Control Points (CCPs).
- Perform inspections with production/warehouse teams and ensure deficiencies are rectified before operation commences.
- Handle all types of raw/unpackaged food products that may contain food allergens.
- Gather production samples and organize them for easy retrieval for investigations.
- Verify ATP testing swabbing to confirm cleaning effectiveness before production.
- Perform thermometer calibrations weekly or as needed.
- Perform incoming inspections on products used in production areas; approve or reject shipments; generate supplier corrective actions if rejected.
- Support Production and Warehouse staff in the application and/or monitoring of SQF rules and controls.
- Serve as a resource to Production and Operations regarding food safety and quality issues.
- Generate and inform the immediate supervisor of all non-conformities to SQF rules; accept corrective and preventive actions; and close nonconformances.
- Review, organize, and file documents in a timely manner.
- Assist with regulatory and 3rd party audits.
- Serve as liaison from QA Manager to Production and Operations personnel.
- Escalate issues that cannot be resolved to the QA Manager.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read, write legibly, and understand simple verbal and written instructions.
- Basic computer knowledge and basic Microsoft Office skills.
- Food manufacturing or distribution experience.
- HACCP certified or the ability to become HACCP certified.
