About the Role
An opportunity exists for a highly organised, analytical, and proactive Claims Coordinator to join the Insurance and Claims Department. This role supports the timely investigation and management of incidents to minimise financial impact and improve claims performance. You will analyse data to identify trends and risks, maintain and interrogate claims data using advanced Excel skills, and provide insights for accident-prevention initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the collection of information and evidence for accident investigations and claims.
- Review reported incidents, ensuring appropriate enquiries and early interventions are undertaken.
- Work with depot teams to improve the capture of third-party information.
- Identify recurring accident patterns, claims trends, and areas of emerging risk.
- Investigate and respond to police enquiries, court documents, and Ministry of Justice Portal claims within deadlines.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents and claims, focusing on employee injuries, serious incidents, and high-value claims.
- Provide regular updates and reports on serious incidents, outstanding actions, and developing claims.
- Liaise with claims handlers, solicitors, loss adjusters, insurers, and the First Notification of Loss provider.
- Support claims handlers and internal engineering teams with Cost of Repair documentation.
- Produce reports on outstanding Cost of Repair forms and recovery activity.
- Monitor recovery payments, reconcile records, and report discrepancies.
- Support improvements to claims processes, accident reporting, and best practices.
- Attend relevant claims, depot, and operational meetings.
- Provide general administrative support to the department.
- Undertake other reasonable duties appropriate to the role.
Requirements
- Previous experience in claims handling, insurance, accident investigation, transport operations, legal administration, or a similar regulated environment is advantageous.
- Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to coordinate multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
- Willingness to work outside normal hours occasionally when required.
Skills
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Confident communicating with colleagues, customers, third parties, and external professional partners.
- Good IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to review information from several sources and identify missing evidence or inconsistencies.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and use initiative.
- Proactive and solution-focused approach to resolving issues.
