About the Role
AEGIS London is expanding its Political & Financial Risk Team to support growth. This role involves underwriting, analyzing risk, and managing client relationships within the international lending and emerging market development space. The position offers an opportunity to advance your career while developing underwriting strategy and maintaining discipline.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite the Political & Financial Risk account for Syndicate 1225 according to personal underwriting authorities and procedures.
- Refer risks to the Class Underwriter, Head of Department, or Active Underwriter when necessary.
- Assist in achieving the business mix, premium income, and ULRs outlined in the syndicate business plan.
- Contribute new ideas to support risk selection and portfolio management.
- Analyze and evaluate Political & Financial Risk opportunities to recommend, benchmark, and price transactions.
- Prepare detailed internal political and credit risk analyses, collaborating with the Credit Analyst.
- Lead negotiations on insurance policy wordings and review related facility documentation and transaction structures.
- Proactively monitor the existing portfolio, assisting with data preparation and reporting for underwriting strategy, exposure management, and Outwards Reinsurance.
- Establish, maintain, and service strong relationships with Insureds, distribution partners, and reinsurers, including business travel.
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of entries on internal systems.
- Manage problem risks, restructuring proposals, and workout areas in conjunction with the Claims division.
- Comply with all applicable internal and external laws, regulations, sanctions, policies, procedures, and guidance.
Requirements
- Thorough working knowledge and underwriting experience of the Political and Financial Risk insurance market.
- Detailed comprehension of policy wordings, coverages, premium rates, and risk factors.
- Experience in managing and owning a book of PFR business.
- Proactive and entrepreneurial approach.
- Strong technical knowledge and analytical skills across the traditional PFR book.
- Ability to work collegiately as part of a team and individually.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to forge and maintain long-term relationships with key stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and planning skills, including prioritization and time management.
- Proficient in standard underwriting systems, processes, and procedures.
- Preferably ACII qualified.
