About the Role
Seeking a proactive and organized House Manager & Family Assistant to support a busy, growing family in Austin, TX. This role is crucial for quarterbacking household support, allowing parents and childcare providers to focus on the children. The ideal candidate will create calm and functionality within the home, manage various household tasks, and work collaboratively with a team.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain organizational systems throughout the home.
- Execute daily household resets, including cleaning and tidying.
- Handle home projects, completing them or hiring vendors as needed.
- Manage children's clothing, including seasonal transitions and storage.
- Maintain and replace smoke detector batteries and light bulbs.
- Clean humidifiers and air purifiers regularly.
- Support event preparation and hosting logistics.
- Pack and unpack for work travel and family vacations.
- Assist with pet care for the family dog.
- Care for indoor plants.
- Serve as the administrator for childcare coverage.
- Facilitate monthly scheduling sessions for childcare coverage.
- Handle school drop-offs and pickups.
- Provide backup and supplemental childcare as needed.
- Prep and stock children's backpacks, clothing, snacks, and diaper bags daily.
- Handle all household laundry, including special care for garments.
- Rotate linens and towels and maintain a tidy linen storage area.
- Create and maintain an organized laundry area.
- Manage meal prep services, including deliveries and plating.
- Provide backup meal prep support.
- Keep the refrigerator stocked with children's staples.
- Pack lunches and prepare food for children as requested.
- Batch prep healthy snacks for children.
- Prepare simple breakfasts for parents.
- Keep the kitchen clean and maintained.
- Manage grocery and household shopping.
- Maintain and restock running supply lists.
- Explore and manage subscription services for pantry and household needs.
- Manage mail, packages, and recycling.
- Handle miscellaneous errands.
- Manage vendor relationships and schedules.
- Manage the household maintenance calendar.
- Source, vet, and coordinate new vendors.
- Keep the pool area tidy, organized, and safe.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for renters at the family's rental property.
- Oversee childcare search, including screening and reference checks.
- Manage the family calendar, planning proactively for needs.
- Coordinate events and book appointments for the family.
- Plan support for the family based on work travel.
- Help with family travel logistics, including accommodations and bookings.
- Own ongoing garage organization.
- Keep the garage gym area clean and sanitized.
- Handle select hands-on cleaning tasks directly.
- Lead large organizational projects throughout the home.
- Manage holiday decor rotation and storage.
- Schedule, track, and manage routine maintenance for family vehicles.
- Keep family vehicles organized and free of clutter.
- Coordinate regular vehicle cleans.
- Manage vehicle-related paperwork.
Requirements
- Maintain a smoke-free environment.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Reliable personal transportation and valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Experience driving children.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and navigate multiple flights of stairs throughout the day.
- CPR and First Aid certified, or willing to obtain prior to start.
- Comfortable around water and pool environments.
- Comfortable signing and maintaining a confidentiality and nondisclosure agreement.
- Able to work in a home with a medium-size dog.
