About the Role

As a Cleaner, you will report to the Manager, Housing & Homelessness Services, & Maintenance, and play a key role in day-to-day operations, keeping buildings spotless and functional. This hands-on role requires attention to detail and reliability to make a real difference for residents and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and emergency cleaning of floors, washrooms, stairwells, windows, laundry rooms, elevators, and garbage chute rooms.
  • Manage waste by placing garbage bins in designated areas for scheduled pick-up.
  • Operate equipment such as garden tractors and floor buffers.
  • Clean public areas and offices, vacuuming, and mopping assigned spaces.
  • Handle supplies, including heavy lifting when needed.
  • Respond to emergencies to ensure resident and staff safety.
  • Assist other departments and set up meeting rooms for events.
  • Maintain tools and equipment.
  • Carry building keys and an assigned phone for communication.
  • Follow all safety standards and policies.
  • Walk and stand for extended periods.
  • Drive a tractor to move bins.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Previous cleaning experience in commercial or residential settings.
  • Strong verbal and written English proficiency.

Skills

  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently.
  • Ability to manage keys and security systems.
  • Comfortable operating janitorial machinery and tools.
  • Ability to follow schedules, policies, and directions.
  • Experience working with individuals facing mental health challenges, addictions, or homelessness is a valued asset.
