About the Role
As Director Finance, you will lead Wunderflats' finance function end-to-end, including accounting, controlling, liquidity, taxes, and financial reporting. You will manage an experienced four-person team and elevate the function to the next level, reporting directly to the CFO and holding a seat on the Leadership Team. The core of the role is steering the company using dynamic budgeting principles, ensuring clarity for all stakeholders and driving the finance function's AI adoption.
Responsibilities
- Manage month-end and year-end closing according to HGB, including the annual audit, appendix, and management report.
- Oversee accounts receivable and payment processes, ensuring they are automated, exception-free, and scalable.
- Handle domestic and European international tax and compliance matters with external advisors.
- Execute controlling and steering activities, including P&L per business unit, a 12-month rolling forecast based on Dynamic Budgeting principles, a rolling 12-month cash forecast, and management reporting.
- Prepare and lead Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with all executives, focusing on goals, forecasts, and resource allocation.
- Manage investor and board reporting, providing financial foundations for expansion and M&A decisions.
- Oversee the architecture and development of finance systems, including Microsoft Business Central ERP and the payment infrastructure around Stripe.
- Drive automation and AI adoption across all finance processes.
- Lead and develop the four-person Finance team.
Requirements
- Deep HGB knowledge and audit experience from a corporate perspective.
- Extensive hands-on experience with modern Finance ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Business Central). Understanding ERP functionality, data models, closing processes, integrations, and reporting layers is essential.
- Proven controlling experience, including forecasts, unit P&Ls, and management reporting that has influenced real decisions.
- Leadership presence with experience managing a team and interacting with founders, auditors, and investors.
- Fluent German and English are required; German is necessary for auditing, tax, and authority communication.
- A background as a certified accountant (Bilanzbuchhalter) or tax advisor (StB), SQL or Python skills, and AI experience in Finance are advantageous but not mandatory.
