About the Role
Flo is seeking a Senior AI Engineer with strong LLM and product engineering experience to develop AI-driven features. You will focus on the product-facing behavior of GenAI features, including relevance, quality, latency, and safety, utilizing platform tools and contributing to infrastructure as needed.
Responsibilities
- Build and ship LLM-powered product features, including AI-generated mobile push notifications, personalized in-app content recommendations, custom user journeys, and conversational AI-powered insights with structured output.
- Reduce response latency through streaming, pregeneration, and inference-time tradeoffs, collaborating with product and design on user experience.
- Iterate on prompt design and calibration, utilize fine-tuned health-domain models, and ensure output safety and quality with the Judge-as-a-Service ecosystem.
- Enable A/B testing for model and prompt changes, using evaluation gates for safe deployment and impact measurement.
- Contribute to synthetic Q&A generation, golden test sets, and evaluation dataset design.
- Contribute to Databricks, AWS (EKS), Terraform, or CI/CD work as required.
- Collaborate with Product, Security, Analytics, and Medical teams, and engage with technology partners on pre-release capabilities.
Requirements
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, with recent hands-on experience building product features backed by LLMs.
- Experience with at least one of: prompt engineering, LLM evaluation, fine-tuning, or model serving.
- Strong Python skills and comfort working with APIs/SDKs that wrap LLM calls, prompt templates, and structured outputs.
- Product sensibility with a track record of shipping user-facing features, focusing on latency, tone, and quality of AI output.
- Comfort picking up new infrastructure tools (Databricks, AWS, Terraform, GitHub Actions) as needed.
- Experience with LLM evaluation frameworks or fine-tuning techniques.
- Experience with prompt optimization frameworks (DSPy or similar).
- Experience with feature stores or personalization/ranking.
- Experience in healthcare, regulated industries, or safety-critical AI systems.
- Data engineering fundamentals (Spark, Delta tables, Parquet).
