About the Role

Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) / Vocational Counselor PRN in Austin, TX. Experienced CRC with expertise in rehabilitation counseling, community resource coordination, and functional reintegration. Skilled in supporting individuals with complex neurological injuries to achieve independence, community participation, and vocational success through patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

Evaluate work/educational history, interest, aptitude, ability, and physical skill relative to vocational potential and training needs.
Develop vocational rehabilitation treatment plans with the interdisciplinary team.
Administer direct treatment using vocational rehabilitation techniques to build necessary skills for independence.
Design pre-vocational programs to assess current skills, abilities, and interests.
Oversee individual program/treatment plans implemented by rehabilitative staff.
Design community reintegration activities to support vocational needs during physical activity.
Assist individuals in understanding their needs, limitations, and how to manage them during function.
Provide training to individuals and others involved in their rehabilitation, analyzing and documenting results.
Perform thorough evaluations, assess needs, and set measurable objectives with the rehabilitation team.
Adjust treatment to achieve maximum results.
Apply professional knowledge and skills to facilitate problem resolution and achieve individualized goals.
Report progress to rehabilitation staff, individuals served, and family members.
Observe, document, and report changes in the condition of individuals served to the Clinical Coordinator, physician, and treatment team.
Provide treatment progress and status documentation according to the Plan of Treatment.
Participate in the team process, providing input and effective treatment strategies.
Attend case conferences and family educational meetings.
Develop, teach, and assess the plan of treatment, guiding Rehabilitation Specialists/CNAs.
Use appropriate methods and tools in all teaching and training activities, including discharge-related ones.
Maintain professional conduct regarding confidential information, sharing only when clearly in the best interest of the individual served.
Collect and document data for program evaluation and improvement.
Attend, participate in, and/or conduct internal staff development programs.
Obtain continuing education as required by Company policy and regulations.
Maintain and enhance clinical practice skills.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Must successfully complete any/all required pre-employment evaluation test(s) per policy.
Good organizational and communication skills are needed.
Ability to function with minimum supervision.
Reliable transportation is required.
Physical ability to perform job-related duties including lifting, standing, bending, stooping, stretching, walking, pushing, and pulling, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must successfully complete a health examination prior to assignment and periodically thereafter to verify physical capability.
Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or equivalent.
Minimum of two years vocational counseling experience with individuals with neurological impairments.
Knowledge of complex neurologic injury and orthopedic rehabilitation techniques.
Maintain professional license and/or certification as required by the state.
