About the Role

The Senior Claims Specialist will investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle general liability and commercial auto claims. This role involves assessing coverage, contacting customers, investigating losses, arranging inspections and experts, and negotiating settlements. Specialists must comply with insurance regulations and collaborate with internal departments, vendors, and defense counsel.

Responsibilities

Adjudicate first-party property damage claims under technical supervision.
Provide superior claims outcomes and develop lasting connections with insureds and brokers.
Analyze claims forms, policies, endorsements, and client instructions to determine coverage.
Investigate claims promptly and thoroughly, interviewing involved parties.
Manage diary tasks to ensure timely and financially optimal case resolution.
Create and review reserves in line with market and company policy.
Determine appropriate inspection methods and coordinate expertise resources for case resolution.
Ensure compliance with state regulations and requirements.
Settle straightforward claims within authority limits and adhere to referral procedures.
Negotiate cost-effective solutions within own limits using various negotiation styles.
Prepare escalation notices and present claims to the Claims Committee.
Report claims trends and developments to management and underwriters.
Process mail and prioritize workload.
Complete telephone calls and written correspondence with various parties.
Demonstrate a passion for strong claim management.

Requirements

A broad theoretical knowledge of general liability claims and an exceptional customer service focus.
Must be able to obtain necessary state licenses and maintain Continuing Education (CE) requirements.
Must have good business acumen, understanding insurance company operations and profitability impact.

Minimum of two years' experience adjudicating claims, preferably with general liability and commercial auto claims experience.

Education Level

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required.
Two or more insurance designations or four additional years of related experience adjudicating bodily injury claims beyond the minimum experience required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

Salary/Compensations

Richmond Pay Range: $75,200 - $90,600
Albany and Chicago Pay Range: $75,200 - $90,600
Los Angeles and New York City Pay Range: $75,200 - $90,600
