About the Role

Rail Delivery Group is seeking an experienced Retail Partnerships Lead to shape and manage relationships with the third-party retail market. This senior role involves building strategic partnerships, managing retailer licensing, and ensuring compliance with commercial and operational obligations. The position is accountable for revenue growth through partnerships and effective market management.

Responsibilities

  • Set clear direction for a specialist team.
  • Establish measurable performance indicators.
  • Ensure delivery against agreed commercial and operational objectives.
  • Provide expert insight into the third-party retail market.
  • Shape strategies supporting the Fares, Ticketing & Retail programme and Great British Railways.
  • Work closely with third-party retailers, train operators, Department for Transport, the regulator, and industry partners.
  • Support revenue growth.
  • Improve customer experience.
  • Create a thriving retail market.
  • Build trusted senior relationships.
  • Lead teams.
  • Navigate complex commercial agreements.

Requirements

  • Strong commercial acumen and focus on delivering tangible outcomes, including revenue growth and improved customer experience.
  • Proven experience in B2C and B2B partnerships, distribution management, business development, or account management.
  • Experience leading complex commercial negotiations and managing complex commercial agreements.
  • Demonstrable accountability for commercial outcomes and strategic delivery.
  • Experience establishing robust processes, delivering change, and working successfully across organisational boundaries.
  • Strong track record of engaging and influencing senior internal and external stakeholders, including government, regulatory, and representative bodies.
  • Proven experience of cross-functional working to achieve commercial objectives.
  • People-management experience and strong leadership skills.
  • A customer-focused approach.
  • Experience representing an organisation externally within a complex stakeholder environment.
  • Experience of the rail industry (desirable).
  • Understanding of rail retailing and its commercial framework (desirable).
  • Experience of developing or implementing new strategies (desirable).
  • Knowledge of the stakeholder landscape surrounding Rail Delivery Group and the Fares, Ticketing & Retail programme (desirable).
  • Experience of working through organisational transition (desirable).
  • Experience of influencing government and regulatory stakeholders (desirable).
