About the Role
The Core Capital team within Institutional Retirement is seeking an Investment Manager to oversee portfolio management and investment oversight activities for a multi-asset portfolio spanning public and private markets. This role supports strategic priorities including the Pension Risk Transfer business and seed investments in private market funds.
Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to initiatives for the Core Capital portfolio, including strategy, SAA, and metrics, assessing the impact of investment actions on return, risk, and solvency.
- Evaluate new and existing investments in listed and private markets, coordinate due diligence, write investment recommendations, and support investments through governance and execution.
- Oversee investment and fund manager performance against targets, maintain relationships, and support investment recommendations.
- Monitor liquidity metrics and cash forecasts, recommend actions, and coordinate asset sales, rebalancing, and financing to meet cash requirements and maintain stress readiness.
- Maintain high standards for portfolio, fund, and position data, oversee reconciliations and data issue remediation, and contribute to management information packs and governance commentary.
- Draft and present high-quality committee, board, and stakeholder papers detailing analysis, rationale, risks, mitigants, and recommended actions.
- Build relationships across internal teams and external partners, provide direction and constructive review to colleagues, share knowledge, and help prioritize team delivery.
Requirements
- A university degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline such as finance, economics, mathematics or engineering.
- Strong knowledge of investment analysis, portfolio or fund analytics, valuation, fixed income and/or alternative assets.
- A good understanding of investment structures and the factors influencing risk, return and credit quality.
- Relevant experience within investment management, portfolio analysis or investment oversight.
- Experience assessing investments or monitoring funds and managers, with the ability to translate analysis into clear recommendations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence working collaboratively with senior stakeholders and external managers.
- An adaptable and organised approach, with the ability to take ownership, prioritise effectively and deliver under pressure.
