About the Role
We are seeking a Head of Finance & Controlling to take full ownership of the company's financial numbers, providing leadership and founders with the clarity needed for confident decision-making during scaling. This is a build role where you will establish the strategy and standards for the finance function, while also being hands-on in the initial months to structure processes and define core metrics. You will expand the function into FP&A and controlling, and make strategic decisions regarding finance infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Establish a single source of truth for all commercial and financial metrics.
- Own end-to-end monthly management reporting, including production, quality control, and narrative.
- Lead the annual plan, rolling forecast, and associated FP&A work, including cash and liquidity modeling and working-capital management.
- Oversee payment operations, costs, fraud and chargeback management, payroll, EU VAT and tax, and legal/compliance interfaces.
- Independently produce well-reasoned answers to strategic modeling questions from leadership.
- Select and implement FP&A tooling, build data pipelines, and automate recurring close and reporting tasks.
- Own metric definitions and the reporting layer, using SQL to generate dashboards and analyze data.
- Partner cross-functionally with Growth, Ops, Digital Product, and Customer Care to drive business change.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in finance and BI/analytics, with e-commerce and supply chain experience.
- Proven experience owning close review, management reporting, and planning in organizations of 50-200+ people.
- Understanding of subscription economics, including cohort retention, CAC/CLV, and contribution-margin ladders.
- Proficiency in a modern BI stack and ability to perform data analysis independently.
- Experience settling contested metric definitions across functions and communicating with senior stakeholders.
- Excellent financial modeling and data analytics skills.
- Ability to bring structure and prioritize effectively under pressure.
- Fluency in both German and English.
