About the Role
Provide commercial legal support across a range of business and regulatory matters, working closely with internal stakeholders to manage legal risk, support contract work, and advise on compliance issues within a global organization.
Responsibilities
- Provide timely, practical, and commercial legal advice across Marsh and Mercer Australia businesses.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with clients, suppliers, and the insurance market.
- Review marketing materials for legal and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare and advise on industry-specific materials such as binding authorities, opinion letters, attestations, Authorised Representative agreements, and distributor agreements.
- Analyze new and changing laws and regulations and advise on their impact.
- Identify legal exposure and recommend solutions to reduce risk to Marsh and Mercer.
- Manage external counsel and review the quality of their work.
- Support and develop junior team members.
- Liaise between the legal team and the broader corporate group.
Requirements
- Experience as a lawyer in commercial, corporate, or insurance-related legal work.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Well-developed attention to detail, drafting skills, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
