About the Role
This role and the team play an important part in the success of CFS’s strategic priorities by strengthening governance and oversight across CFS to ensure customer, investor and unitholder outcomes remain central to business decisions and strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Support the RE Board in carrying out its governance role to ensure its legal and regulatory obligations are met.
- Assist the RE Board in understanding how improved investor outcomes are achieved through strategic initiatives, business decisions and operational priorities.
- Provide comfort and support to the RE Board that service providers are meeting their obligations.
- Provide pragmatic advice and guidance to the business on investment governance practices.
- Support the business in integrating ESG factors into investment decision-making processes.
- Proactively engage and influence colleagues across CFS, including oversight of key activities.
- Review and oversee key policies, frameworks and Board papers.
- Advocate for and support the continual improvement of the governance function and its processes.
- Provide guidance on effective corporate governance practices that enhance decision-making processes.
- Stay informed about changes in regulations and industry practices and assess their implications.
- Provide strategic advice on governance and compliance issues to assist directors and management.
- Ensure candidates have full work rights in Australia.
- Complete background checks prior to final candidate employment confirmation.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in a governance related role such as consulting, legal, governance and/or risk within the financial services sector.
- Proven track record of effectively advising and guiding business units on compliance, governance, or risk management matters, with tangible outcomes focused on investment governance and ESG integration.
- Strong understanding of investment governance principles and fiduciary duties.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and provide pragmatic recommendations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Develops and maintains effective stakeholder relationships by being a valued and trusted adviser, exercising judgement and influencing key governance outcomes.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of corporate governance structure, standards, financial services regulations and legislation.
- Strategic thinking ability and strong track record of delivering transformational change.
