About the Role

This role is a hands-on position within Brompton's Plant Quality team, focused on ensuring bicycles meet quality and safety standards and contribute to an excellent customer experience. The technician will collaborate with various departments to identify issues, solve problems, and drive continuous improvement in manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

Carry out defined product and process inspections on bicycles and assemblies according to approved procedures and standards.
Assess product and process performance, identify quality concerns, and initiate or support containment and escalation.
Perform product and process audits to verify compliance with SOPs and quality standards.
Use measurements, quality data, and shop-floor observations to identify trends and support problem-solving.
Contribute to NCR, 8D, and Root Cause Analysis activities through inspection, evidence gathering, and data analysis.
Participate in First Article Inspection, PPAP, validation activities, engineering changes, and New Product Introduction.
Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Design, and Quality teams to improve process capability and product quality.
Contribute to corrective and continuous improvement activities, including Kaizen and 5S, and verify their implementation.
Identify opportunities to reduce variation, rework, and scrap while improving efficiency and customer experience.
Maintain accurate quality records and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders.
Maintain safe and controlled quality working practices, including the use of inspection equipment and escalation of concerns.

Requirements

Ability to follow defined procedures, quality standards, and technical instructions.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Comfortable working in a shop-floor manufacturing environment.
Able to work collaboratively with Production and technical teams.
Able to organize workload and respond appropriately to changing priorities.
Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.
Hands-on and curious, with a genuine interest in understanding products and manufacturing processes.
Able to think critically and look beyond the immediate issue to understand causes, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.
Collaborative and able to build positive working relationships across Production, Engineering, and Quality.
Confident communicating quality concerns clearly and constructively.
Positive, resilient, and adaptable in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Experience Level

Entry-level (willing to learn)
Previous experience in manufacturing, engineering, quality, inspection or production quality assurance is advantageous.
Experience in bicycle, automotive, aerospace or another assembly-based manufacturing environment is advantageous.
Experience using Root Cause Analysis tools is advantageous.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications is advantageous.
Experience using dimensional measurement and inspection equipment is advantageous.
Understanding of torque-controlled assembly and joint verification is advantageous.
Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, PPAP, FAI, FMEA, MSA or SPC is advantageous.

Education Level

Technical qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality or a related discipline is advantageous.
