About the Role
The Associate Director, Regulatory Change & Enablement is responsible for providing regulatory advisory, impact assessment, and enablement services across Asset Services, supporting both Transfer Agency and Fund Accounting operations. The role ensures consistent interpretation of regulatory obligations while working closely with Operations, Product, and clients to deliver practical, commercially aligned outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and interpret regulatory developments
- Assess impacts across operations, products, and service models
- Develop clear analysis, guidance, and business-ready collateral
- Support BAU regulatory queries and interpretation
- Engage directly with clients and Responsible Entities (REs) on regulatory change
- Lead the development of impact assessments, recommendations, and enablement material
- Partner with PMO and business teams to support delivery and implementation
- Monitor regulatory developments from APRA, ASIC, AUSTRAC, ATO and other bodies
- Interpret regulatory requirements and translate into operational, product, and client impacts
- Perform structured impact assessments across Transfer Agency operations, Fund Accounting operations, and Client service models
- Partner with Product and Operations to assess implications and develop practical, scalable response options
- Produce high-quality outputs including impact assessments, recommendations, and business guidance material
- Lead development of regulatory change collateral, including impact summaries, process and operational guidance, and business-facing documentation
- Ensure outputs are clear, actionable, and aligned to regulatory intent
- Support translation of regulatory change into operational understanding and readiness
- Work closely with PMO and delivery teams to provide SME input, clarify requirements, and review and refine proposed solutions
- Act as SME for regulatory queries across Operations and Product teams
- Provide practical, timely interpretation of existing regulatory requirements and emerging regulatory expectations
- Support consistent application of regulatory requirements across the business
- Escalate or engage specialist SMEs (e.g. tax) where required
- Lead and coordinate Client Regulatory Forums, including defining content, coordinating inputs, preparing materials, and presenting discussions
- Engage directly with clients and Responsible Entities to present regulatory changes, explain impacts, and discuss approach
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients on regulatory change matters
- Support assessment of business readiness for regulatory change, including identifying gaps, highlighting risks, and providing guidance
- Contribute to building stronger regulatory readiness capability over time
- Develop and deliver training and guidance on regulatory matters
- Translate complex requirements into clear, practical learning content
- Support uplift of regulatory awareness across Operations, Product, and Client-facing teams
- Build internal capability in regulatory interpretation and application
- Partner with Operations, Client facing teams, Product, PMO / delivery teams, and Line 2 Risk & Compliance
- Ensure alignment of regulatory interpretation with Line 2 expectations
- Act as a conduit between Line 2 and Operations for regulatory change matters
- Build strong relationships with clients and external stakeholders
- Communicate clearly on impacts, risks, and recommended approaches
- Identify opportunities to improve regulatory change assessment, communication, guidance, and business readiness practices
- Contribute to a scalable and consistent regulatory enablement capability
Requirements
- 10+ years’ experience in regulatory change or compliance within financial services
- Strong experience across APRA, ASIC, AUSTRAC, ATO regulatory and reporting requirements
- Proven track record in risk frameworks, compliance controls and data governance
- Experience managing audits and regulatory engagement
- Demonstrated experience in regulatory impact assessment and advisory roles
- Strong written communication skills, including Board and Committee reporting
- Experience supporting client-facing regulatory discussions or forums
- Exposure to Transfer Agency and Fund Accounting functions
- Experience developing training or capability uplift material
- Strong knowledge of financial services regulation, including APRA, ASIC, AUSTRAC and ATO requirements
- Ability to interpret regulation and translate requirements into clear operational, product and client impacts
- Experience across Transfer Agency and/or Fund Accounting environments, with an understanding of service provider obligations and client impacts
- Strong advisory, stakeholder engagement and presentation capability, including confidence engaging with clients, Responsible Entities and senior stakeholders
- Ability to develop clear analysis, guidance and business-ready collateral that supports practical implementation and decision-making
- Experience supporting regulatory change initiatives, including impact assessment, enablement, readiness planning and capability uplift
- Comfortable operating in a lean, evolving team structure, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution
- Demonstrates a builder mindset, with the ability to establish, uplift and continuously improve processes rather than operate solely in mature BAU environments
- Able to navigate ambiguity and shifting priorities while maintaining ownership, accountability and follow-through on commitments
- Proven ability to operate autonomously, manage competing priorities and influence outcomes without direct authority
- Pragmatic approach to risk and compliance, translating regulatory requirements into operationally workable solutions
