About the Role
This 3-month contract role leads high-profile modernization initiatives within the Payments Product team, shaping the future of payments for Canadian credit unions and driving the evolution of Central 1's payments strategy.
Responsibilities
- Lead critical workstreams for multi-year regulatory and industry mandated programs including Real Time Rails and Future State of Retail Batch.
- Ensure alignment across external and internal stakeholder change management and industry communications.
- Identify opportunities for product innovation and features to enhance member experience and drive commercial value.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver and roll out new products and services.
- Partner with Marketing Communications, Client Engagement, and Business Development teams on initiatives driving business growth and client education.
- Partner with Payments Product leadership to shape medium- and long-term product vision.
- Contribute to building a high-performance product organization, including people management and development of a direct report.
- Own end-to-end strategy and execution of the Strategic Advisory Council.
- Advance key payments transformation programs, including Real-Time Rail (RTR).
- Partner with senior leaders, clients, and industry stakeholders to navigate opportunities, regulatory changes, and market trends.
- Prioritize strategic initiatives, strengthen client relationships, and ensure credit unions are prepared for industry mandates.
- Bring teams together across Product, Client Engagement, Marketing & Communications, Technology & Operations, Delivery, Fraud, and Compliance to drive alignment and deliver outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 7+ years of experience in a related role, preferably in Payments Strategy or Payments Product Management.
- Strong understanding of the Canadian payments landscape, including regulatory developments and their impact.
- Experience contributing to or leading payments modernization initiatives (e.g., Real-Time Rail) is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically, conceptually, and analytically.
- Proven experience gathering, analyzing, and communicating customer feedback and product requirements.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong research and analytical capabilities.
- Experience developing executive-level presentations.
- Ability to balance customer experience, business objectives, and regulatory requirements.
- Adaptable and effective in evolving regulatory, market, and organizational environments.
- Capable of managing strategic priorities and detailed execution.
- Self-motivated and able to make sound business decisions with limited supervision.
- Exceptional relationship-building, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with payments networks, industry associations, or related organizations is an asset.
