About the Role
AECOM is seeking a Technical Director with a strong Building Services background to join their national Building Engineering team. This senior leadership role involves technical and design leadership, project delivery, commercial management, client engagement, and business development, working on major projects to deliver successful outcomes and identify new opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Provide senior technical and design leadership across major Building Engineering projects, maintaining a strong focus on quality, programme, budget and client outcomes.
- Lead project teams and take responsibility for the successful delivery of a portfolio of projects.
- Work directly with clients to understand their needs, build strong relationships and provide practical engineering and design solutions.
- Take a lead role in design management, technical reviews and project delivery, working across multidisciplinary teams.
- Support business development and work winning through client engagement, proposals, tender interviews and presentations.
- Identify opportunities to grow AECOM’s services across existing and new clients, working with colleagues across different disciplines and locations.
- Provide commercial oversight across projects, including budgets, pricing, contracts, project reviews and financial performance.
- Plan, lead and own commercial conversations and outcomes with key clients.
- Build and develop high-performing teams, supporting technical development, collaboration and career progression.
- Work with senior leaders across AECOM to support business and resource planning and the continued growth of our Building Engineering capability.
- Represent AECOM with clients, industry partners and the wider engineering community.
Requirements
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Fire/Hydraulics Engineering.
- Ideally, more than 20 years of experience in the building services industry in Australia.
- Chartered Engineer and relevant registrations.
- Extensive experience in building engineering, with a strong background in the design and delivery of complex, multidisciplinary building services projects.
- Proven experience in a senior technical, project or business leadership role.
- Strong commercial understanding, including project budgets, programmes, contracts and financial performance.
- A strong track record of client engagement, commercial management and negotiations, business development and winning work.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing project teams.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage confidently with clients and senior project stakeholders.
- An established network within the Australian building engineering and property market will be highly regarded.
