About the Role
You will own design for key parts of BoomScreen, Boom's tenant screening and applicant verification product. You'll work closely with product managers and engineers to turn user and business needs into intuitive, usable experiences. This role is a great fit for someone who wants to own design end to end at a fast-moving startup, work hand-in-hand with engineers to ship what they design, and build on our existing design system and component library.
Responsibilities
- Design intuitive experiences across BoomScreen's web and mobile products, from applicant-facing screening flows to internal tools used by property managers
- Turn ambiguous problems into user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes in Figma
- Partner closely with engineers from early concepts through implementation to make sure what ships matches the design
- Incorporate feedback from product, engineering, and other stakeholders into design revisions
- Work within and help evolve Boom's design system, reusing and extending frontend components rather than reinventing patterns
- Take ownership of assigned design work, surface problems, and propose solutions
- Share work early and often for feedback from the team
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in product/UX design, ideally on digital products with both web and mobile surfaces
- Strong proficiency with Figma
- Solid grounding in user flows, wireframing, prototyping, and usability feedback
- Experience working directly with engineers to take designs from concept to shipped product
- Understanding of design systems and how to design within (and extend) a component library
- Strong communication skills, including explaining design decisions and taking feedback from stakeholders
- Self-directed and comfortable with ambiguity in a fast-moving startup environment
