About the Role

Cell Press is launching a prestigious field-shaping new journal to serve biotechnology researchers. The Editor-in-Chief will launch and lead this journal, shaping its vision and leading an editorial team. This role requires a strong understanding of the needs of international authors, readers, and reviewers.

Responsibilities

  • Define the journal's aims, scope, and formats to create an impactful and cohesive publication.
  • Leverage an extensive network of researchers to attract high-quality article submissions.
  • Engage with the research community through extensive travel, including conference attendance and institute visits.
  • Recruit and manage in-house editorial team members.
  • Oversee the rigorous evaluation of submissions to ensure journal quality and value.
  • Develop partnerships with other Cell Press editorial, Operations, Marketing, and Press teams.
  • Contribute to the overall publishing strategy of Cell Press.

Requirements

  • Proven biotechnology research expertise and broad interest across the journal's scope.
  • Deep network of international researchers with the ability to engage and influence.
  • Capacity for conceptual and critical thinking on a wide range of scientific issues.
  • Proven organizational, project management, leadership, and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Extensive editorial experience is valued.

  • U.S. National Base Pay Range: $95,300 - $158,800
  • New York City: $114,300 - $190,500
  • Germany: €75,200 - €125,500
  • Netherlands: €100,400 - €167,300
