About the Role

The Fr. Alfred Center provides a residential recovery program for homeless men seeking to build sober and stable lives. This role supports residents through consistent application of program guidelines, policies, and procedures, embodying the mission and values of St. Anthony Foundation with compassion and care.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with completing the intake and discharge process, including all necessary paperwork.
  • Manage resident check-in and check-out, documenting time and relevant details.
  • Conduct thorough searches of resident bags upon entry and report any issues immediately.
  • Adhere to the St. Anthony Foundation safety program guidelines to ensure resident safety and privacy.
  • Manage or assist in handling program emergencies, including coordinating with external emergency services.
  • Monitor incoming calls for residents and refer them to Primary Counselors.
  • Oversee resident activities in accordance with Fr. Alfred Center Program Policies and Procedures.
  • Participate in daily oversight of clients' recreational activities.
  • Conduct routine hourly rounds of each floor and adjoining rooms to ensure facility safety and security.
  • Perform outside perimeter checks, identifying and reporting any issues or unusual situations.
  • Manage medication distribution and inventory control, including administering prescribed medications and maintaining accurate records.
  • Review client appointments and approved passes in the electronic database.
  • Provide clients with sign-in and sign-out logs, verifying appointments and passes.
  • Offer emotional support to residents during challenging times.
  • Treat all guests with empathy, dignity, and respect, seeking to understand their perspectives.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively across cultures.
  • Monitor the Receptionist Desk and Front Office, maintaining confidentiality.
  • Greet and assist vendors, guests, and clients, directing them appropriately.
  • Oversee and assist in the orientation and training of community volunteers.
  • Answer program telephones professionally and take accurate messages.
  • Ensure first-floor windows are closed at all times.
  • Report any discrepancies or deficiencies in the medicine log immediately.
  • Oversee residents on task assignments, such as houseman duties.
  • Train residents on kitchen and dining room chore duties and ensure their thorough completion.
  • Ensure activity rooms, including computer rooms, are closed down at appropriate times.
  • Review client census and other required electronic information daily.
  • Support room changes to maintain an accurate Bed Log and notify the House Coordinator of any inaccuracies.
  • Report visitors attempting to access the building after regular business hours.
  • Document and update resident or program information on the Shift Summary by shift's end via email.
  • Complete reports and all other paperwork neatly, legibly, and thoroughly.
  • Enter and retrieve data and reports electronically through a database.
  • Understand and follow the organization's programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance service delivery.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the facility, including staff areas.
  • Participate in meetings to support team communication and program goals.
  • Collaborate with others to achieve team success.
  • Manage stress and pressure situations calmly and responsively.
  • Consistently demonstrate integrity while working and representing St. Anthony’s.
  • Practice direct, respectful, open, and honest communication with colleagues.
  • Proactively seek support from team members or management.
  • Demonstrate cooperation with coworkers, management, and the community.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED and three years of experience in social services, particularly in drug and alcohol residential programs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of issues involved in working with recovery clients.
  • Must remain awake, alert, responsive, and active during all working hours.
  • Ability to be polite, diplomatic, and firm, setting limits and practicing professional boundaries.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies and high-pressure situations in a self-composed and self-assured manner.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours and days (weekends and holidays required).
  • Ability to complete paperwork neatly and legibly.
  • Ability or willingness to learn to use information and communication technologies.
  • Ability to be punctual, reliable, cooperative, and stay team-oriented.
