About the Role
JMT Consultants is seeking a skilled Connection Design Engineer to drive project success from inception to completion. This role is essential for launching new projects and involves collaborating with project managers and teams on steel and concrete structures.
Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis for delegated steel connection design projects.
- Work on CISC & AISC projects.
- Design steel connections, miscellaneous steel, and perform erection engineering.
- Develop calculations, review steel shop drawings, prepare submittals, and develop RFIs.
- Develop new calculations to enhance efficiencies.
- Utilize analysis software including Ram Connection, RISA Connection, Excel, Idea Statica, Bluebeam, Trimble Connect, and Revit.
- Review 3-D BIM models for building design, connection design, and shop drawing reviews.
Requirements
- 2+ years of structural engineering experience.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Must be able to travel to the USA.
Skills
- Proficiency in Tekla for detailing.
- Proficiency in Bluebeam for markups and reviews.
- Experience designing connections for steel and concrete structures.
- Advanced understanding of relevant building codes, materials, and standards.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Attention to detail.
- Logical problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Passion for steel design and professional growth.
- Relationship management skills.
- Openness to feedback.
- Experience with Ram Connection, RISA Connection, Excel, Idea Statica, Bluebeam, Trimble Connect, and Revit is a plus.
