About the Role
This role is an integral part of the Services Group within the Private Capital team, focusing on direct investments in North America. You will evaluate potential investment opportunities, execute transactions, conduct sector research, and support portfolio company management.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate new investments to determine attractive opportunities.
- Conduct industry and company research.
- Manage third-party advisors.
- Build sophisticated financial models.
- Arrange debt financing.
- Review legal documents.
- Analyze due diligence materials.
- Prepare internal support materials and written recommendations for the Investment Committee.
- Attend board meetings post-transaction.
- Work with management teams and boards to implement value-enhancing initiatives.
- Assist management with value creation planning, mergers and acquisitions, debt refinancings, budgeting, and strategic projects.
- Develop and refresh sub-sector investment theses through deep dives, market mapping, primary research, target screening, valuation benchmarking, and identification of key diligence themes.
- Conduct desk research, work with bankers and consultants, and attend conferences.
- Build and maintain relationships with fund partners.
Requirements
- Approximately 2 years of related work experience (investment banking preferred; private equity, M&A advisory, management consulting, or corporate development may be considered).
- Experience in developing financial models (LBO, DCF, etc.) from the ground up for investment valuation, transaction structuring, and financing decisions.
- Experience evaluating companies, transactions, or investment themes in industrials or business services is considered an asset.
- Very strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to perform in-depth, creative, critical analysis.
- Comfort using data and AI-enabled tools to support research, analysis, diligence, and portfolio company work.
- Deep understanding of fundamental investment analysis.
- Experience in the investment process, including conducting due diligence, arranging debt financing, and negotiating documentation.
- Ability to develop a good knowledge of the economic/business characteristics, conditions, and trends of the target sector.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with solid presentation skills.
- Collaborative teammate with strong interpersonal skills, able to establish and build relationships.
- Self-motivated with unquestioned personal and professional integrity.
- Ability to meet tight timelines and operate in a highly complex and demanding work environment.
- Ability and willingness to travel.
- Must be legally entitled to work in the country where the role is located.
