About the Role
LLR Partners is seeking a Data Engineer to establish the data foundation for all firm teams, enabling them to answer critical questions. This is the first dedicated data engineering role, reporting to the Head of Data. The position involves building production pipelines, resolving data to a single record, and consolidating over 40 systems into a governed source of truth.
Responsibilities
- Ship production data assets, including dbt models, pipelines, and dashboards for daily use by investment, investor relations, operations, finance, and value creation teams.
- Build investment analytics pipelines using dbt on data sources like Salesforce, PitchBook, and market data to generate trusted metrics on pipeline velocity, conversion, and source mix.
- Curate data from Allvue, Chronograph, and other portfolio systems into a canonical reporting layer for fund NAV, portfolio KPIs, and value creation.
- Own entity resolution and master data, ensuring one record per company, LP, and deal through deduplication, matching, and golden record creation across systems.
- Support machine learning in production by maintaining feature pipelines, data contracts, and monitoring for existing ML models.
- Implement tests, lineage, monitoring, and alerting to ensure data quality.
- Collaborate with deal teams, investor relations, operations, finance, and value creation teams to understand and fulfill their data needs.
- Pair with analytics and ML lead, infrastructure lead, and AI Engineer on agentic workflows that utilize the data.
Requirements
- 2-4 years of experience building production data pipelines or analytics models in a professional environment.
- Strong SQL and Python skills, including refactoring complex queries and writing clean, testable pipeline code.
- Hands-on experience with dbt in a production setting, including models, tests, and documentation.
- Experience with a modern cloud data platform (Databricks preferred; Snowflake or BigQuery acceptable).
- Familiarity with pipeline orchestration tools such as Prefect, Airflow, or Dagster.
- Curiosity about the business domain and a desire to understand data meaning.
- Strong written communication skills, ability to create clear documentation, and a proactive approach to seeking information.
- Experience in shared GitHub repositories, including branches, pull requests, code review, and CI.
