About the Role
Help shape a new publishing product from initial concept through to launch, owning the design process from start to finish. This role offers meaningful ownership, direct access to the CEO, and the chance to grow influence across design and product development.
Responsibilities
- Translate the product vision into clear user journeys, prototypes, and designs.
- Understand publisher and user needs to inform design decisions.
- Develop and consistently apply the product's visual identity across the interface.
- Create intuitive, accessible user experiences with a strong attention to detail.
- Build and maintain a practical design system.
- Shape initial product scope, challenge complexity, and identify key launch priorities.
- Collaborate with developers to explain designs, address constraints, and review implementation.
- Coordinate priorities, milestones, and feedback to ensure project momentum.
- Refine the product based on testing, launch feedback, and ongoing use.
Requirements
- A portfolio demonstrating strong UI design, thoughtful UX, and contribution to real digital products.
- Experience taking designs from an initial brief through to development and delivery.
- Confidence with Figma or comparable design and prototyping tools.
- Ability to create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and polished interface designs.
- Strong understanding of visual hierarchy, typography, layout, and consistency.
- Understanding of accessibility and usability principles.
- Ability to explain design decisions and balance user needs, business priorities, and technical constraints.
- Strong organization and communication skills.
- Confidence to work directly with the CEO and collaborate closely with developers.
- Proactive approach with the ability to work independently.
- Ability to bring clarity to an open brief and take ownership of next steps.
- Interest in shaping product priorities and coordinating delivery.
