About the Role
Field Engineer Interns will help support the scope of work for assigned construction projects and support our field teams. Participants may rotate between several lines of work, including Preconstruction/Estimating, Industrial, and Manufacturing, and will work alongside tenured Project Managers or Project Engineers throughout the entire life cycle of current construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with Project Engineers and Field Superintendents to support field operations, ensuring project progress in safety and quality.
- Perform survey and layout work, including creating lift drawings.
- Actively participate in quality control programs and conduct inspections.
- Participate in daily and weekly project meetings.
- Ensure access to up-to-date contract documents, drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings.
- Promptly report field issues to the Project Engineer and Field Superintendent.
- Track and report quantities of installed materials and equipment weekly.
- Manage the storage and maintenance of on-site equipment and materials.
- Maintain accurate record drawings and as-builts.
- Manage permit documents, such as dust control and stormwater pollution prevention (SWPPP).
- Gather weekly project progress photos.
- Share knowledge and expertise to help develop future professionals.
- Build rapport with owners, clients, engineers, and trade partners, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
Requirements
- Ability to assume responsibility, interface, and effectively communicate with others.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Positive and teachable attitude.
- Currently enrolled in a four-year Construction Management or Engineering program.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform job duties including potentially lifting up to 50 pounds, repeated pushing, pulling, carrying, reaching, walking, standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, climbing, and operating a motor vehicle, crane, tractor, etc.
