About the Role
Field Engineer Interns will support the scope of work for assigned construction projects and field teams. Participants may rotate between Preconstruction/Estimating, Industrial, and Manufacturing, working alongside tenured professionals throughout the project life cycle.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with Project Engineers and Field Superintendents to support field operations, ensuring project progress in safety and quality.
- Perform survey and layout work, including creating lift drawings.
- Participate in quality control programs, conducting inspections and implementing measures.
- Attend daily and weekly project meetings to stay updated and coordinate activities.
- Ensure access to up-to-date contract documents, drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings.
- Promptly report field issues to the Project Engineer and Field Superintendent for resolution.
- Track and report quantities of installed materials and equipment weekly.
- Manage on-site equipment and material storage and maintenance.
- Maintain accurate record drawings and as-builts.
- Manage permit documents, such as dust control and SWPPP.
- Gather weekly project progress photos.
- Share knowledge and expertise to help develop future professionals.
- Build rapport with owners, clients, engineers, and trade partners, ensuring contractual compliance.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a four-year Construction Management or Engineering program.
- Ability to assume responsibility and interface effectively with others.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Positive and teachable attitude.
- Ability to potentially lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to potentially perform repeated pushing, pulling, carrying, reaching, walking, standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, and climbing.
- Ability to potentially operate a motor vehicle, crane, tractor, etc.
