About the Role
The Manufacturing Process Engineer provides technical knowledge and support for new and mature manufacturing systems to enhance safety, quality, throughput, and efficiency in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This position may require off-shift work, and candidates must be flexible to work any shift.
Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day production needs by maintaining solid relationships with Production and Maintenance teams.
- Manage significant downtime events by providing technical guidance and support.
- Design work operations that meet safety, quality, and efficiency requirements with high integrity.
- Drive Continuous Improvement efforts through the elimination of waste.
- Evaluate bottleneck areas and support throughput and productivity improvements.
- Reduce total cost by improving productivity metrics related to equipment uptime, cycle time, and quality.
- Coach and teach lean manufacturing principles to production floor team members.
- Drive problem-solving efforts.
- Work collaboratively with all levels of the organization.
- Collaborate with machine and tool builders on the design and implementation of new tools and equipment.
- Create and maintain Process Flow Diagrams, Control Plans, and PFMEAs.
- Lead plant Equipment Install / Debug / Launch / Continuous Improvement activities.
- Contribute to lessons learned activities by providing feedback to the central process team for BOE/BOP updates.
- Provide technical direction and oversight to outside vendors.
- Leverage GD&T skillsets to ensure manufacturing equipment, tooling, machining processes, and quality verification procedures meet design requirements.
- Identify equipment spare parts and submit stock requests.
- Author Equipment Preventative Maintenance Plans and provide training for execution.
- Problem-solve and resolve issues affecting quality or throughput.
- Support implementation of new processes and equipment.
- Provide technical support for manufacturing operations.
- Coordinate input from internal/external customers to understand needs.
Requirements
- Ability and willingness to work Non-Standard Hours outside of normal Shift (early morning, late evenings, and some weekends and holidays) to support installation and maintenance of equipment.
- BS in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or similar technical field.
- Experience in engineering problem solving.
- Good computer skills and understanding of mechanical drawings and blueprints.
- Basic understanding of basic methods of machining.
- Demonstrated interest and ability to learn and apply agile methodologies.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
