About the Role
CASES is seeking a Case Coordinator for their Bronx Pretrial Services team. This role involves conducting orientation meetings with new participants, helping them comply with court requirements, assessing service needs, and developing collaborative service plans. The goal is to reduce recidivism and support participants in achieving their self-identified goals for treatment, recovery, and community integration. The position requires fieldwork in the NYC community as needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide supervision and community-based services to a caseload of pretrial participants.
- Conduct Supervision Introduction/Orientation meetings with new participants within 24-48 hours of release to review supervision conditions, reporting schedules, and communication methods.
- Collaborate with the court and pretrial staff to ensure participants' successful completion of mandated supervision appointments and court appearances.
- Review legal and court screening documentation to analyze offending behavior patterns and identify changes needed to reduce pretrial arrests.
- Conduct ongoing service need assessments to examine psychosocial needs, including mental and substance use disorders, and assess participation, engagement, and motivation for treatment.
- Link participants to treatment based on eligibility, preferences, and needs, and provide escorts to community services.
- Ensure timely community outreach and case management activities to meet program goals.
- Utilize problem-solving techniques and motivational interviewing to motivate and engage individuals in change processes.
- Provide services in a gender-responsive, trauma-informed manner, adhering to risk-need-responsivity principles.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with community providers (e.g., housing, health, addiction treatment, mental health, legal services).
- Follow community-based monitoring protocols for high-risk and high-need participants and participate in case reviews.
- Enter assessment, supervision reporting, and progress note documentation into the program database.
- Conduct all electronic charting and reporting in accordance with confidentiality regulations.
- Meet monthly case management contact and outreach goals.
- Provide culturally competent services in accordance with CASES policies.
- Perform other duties as required by supervisory staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 1-2 years of experience, or an associate’s degree with a minimum of three years' experience working in human services with individuals with substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, and involvement in the criminal justice system.
- Extensive knowledge of community treatment, support services, and resources.
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system, court processes, and alternative to detention/incarceration services.
