About the Role
KTBC Fox 7, a Fox-owned and operated TV station in downtown Austin, TX, is seeking a full-time customer service-focused and team-oriented Maintenance Engineer. The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for installing, operating, and maintaining video, audio, and other television broadcast and non-broadcast equipment.
Responsibilities
- Provide paramount customer service and collaboration with other departments.
- Collaborate with an astute engineering team to design, install, test, and document new systems and equipment as assigned.
- Manage and maintain data networks while conforming to our Information Security Team's strict policies.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance to all systems supporting broadcast operations for live and production events.
- Accurately troubleshoot and repair technical faults quickly to minimize loss of service.
- Perform software and hardware updates, tests, and installation as required.
- Provide technical assistance and training to the technical operating staff on day-to-day operations and workflows.
- Practice, teach, and encourage best engineering standards and practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to solve complex problems and the capacity to concentrate for long periods.
- Solid working knowledge of broadcast and network systems.
- Experience in RF and fiber optic workflows is desirable.
- Ability to work in a proactive, not a reactive, environment.
- Ability to work in a team collaborative environment and be a self-starter without direct supervision.
- Flexible with changes in workflows, a clear communicator, detail-oriented, and highly organized.
- Ability to climb ladders up to 20 feet, lift 40 pounds, and work in tight spaces.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- A valid driver's license and a good driving record are required to drive company vehicles.
- Must pass a background check.
