About the Role
Forte Preparatory Academy Charter School is seeking a dedicated and reliable Kitchen Worker to assist in receiving, organizing, and serving meals. The role includes maintaining kitchen cleanliness and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, essential for providing nutritious meals to students and staff.
Responsibilities
- Receive and organize delivered meals from Regina Caterers.
- Serve meals to students and staff courteously and timely.
- Ensure kitchen and dining areas are clean and organized, including washing dishes, utensils, and equipment.
- Follow proper food handling and sanitation procedures.
- Assist in inventory and storage of food supplies and utensils.
- Count meals and input into tracking system daily.
- Collaborate with the operations team to maintain a positive and efficient work environment.
- Adhere to all school policies and procedures, including health and safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Director.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is preferred.
- Food handlers license preferred, or willingness to obtain certification within the first six months.
- Spanish speaking preferred for communication with other staff.
- Basic knowledge of food safety standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to handle hot equipment and work in a kitchen environment.
