About the Role
AOM Infusion is seeking an Infusion Nurse to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in the Long Island, NY area. This role involves diagnosing and treating patient responses to health issues, managing a patient caseload, and collaborating with internal staff on care plans.
Responsibilities
- Assess and document patient's biophysical, psychosocial, and educational needs.
- Perform physical assessments and report identified problems to the physician and in-house RN staff.
- Cooperate with in-house RN staff on nursing care plan design and implementation.
- Identify and report changes in patient's condition requiring a change in the plan of care.
- Provide comprehensive patient and family education on healthcare needs, therapy, infection control, and disaster planning.
- Insert, maintain, and assess all types of intravenous access devices.
- Demonstrate competence in performing treatments per physician's plan.
- Report discharge planning needs to in-house RN staff and document all needs.
- Demonstrate sound clinical judgment in patient care planning.
- Coordinate all patient care needs for an assigned group of patients.
- Maintain high standards of nursing care and implement company policies and procedures.
- Coordinate nursing visits and care consistent with the physician’s plan of treatment.
- Monitor and maintain patient's supply inventory.
- Maintain an inventory of emergency back-up supplies.
- Clean and test infusion pumps as per company policy between each patient use.
- Complete all required patient care documentation and submit documents by Monday noon.
- Adhere to universal precautions, aseptic technique, and infection control guidelines.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and company policy.
- Participate in the company’s quality assurance program.
- Complete all charting as per company documentation policy.
- Report adverse events after each visit and to in-house RN staff or RN on call after hours.
- Document patient incidents or issues requiring an Unusual Occurrence Report.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Licensed and registered as a registered nurse in the States where practicing.
- Current CPR certification.
- At least one year of experience as a registered nurse, preferably in a home infusion setting.
- At least one year of experience as a pediatric nurse, preferably in a home infusion setting, or ability to become competent in pediatric practices.
- Knowledge and experience in managing infusion access devices (peripheral lines, PICC lines, central venous catheters, implantable ports).
- Free from any communicable diseases, illnesses, or injuries that may interfere with job performance.
- Flexible with work schedule.
- Takes responsibility for primary patients and provides necessary care when an after-hours need arises.
- Available for On Call RN duties.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
