About the Role
Tavily, part of Nebius, is the web access layer for AI agents. This role owns the infrastructure that provides relevant, fresh, fast, and affordable answers to agent queries. You will set quality standards, influence index direction, and shape the future of search infrastructure for AI agents.
Responsibilities
- Set the quality bar and release criteria for search, defining 'good' per use case and the requirements for shipping changes.
- Own and make explicit the tradeoffs between depth, latency, and cost across search products.
- Shape the direction of the index, including coverage, freshness, and quality standards.
- Develop a roadmap for search infrastructure evolution as AI agents become the primary consumers.
- Analyze competitive landscape and drive work to close critical gaps.
- Collaborate with customer success and customers to identify and prioritize search result improvements.
- Partner with data and vertical product owners to define corpus content and result shaping for different industries.
Requirements
- 5+ years of product management experience, with significant time on high-scale search or ranking systems (web search, feed ranking, ad engines).
- Background as an engineer, ML engineer, or researcher on a production system in a relevant area.
- Direct experience shipping a search or ranking change end-to-end, including evaluation and post-launch analysis.
- Strong data foundation, including experimental design, critical evaluation of results, and distinguishing real improvements from noise.
- Product judgment to balance technical depth, decide on build vs. leave, and defend decisions to engineers and customers.
- Strong understanding of LLMs, AI agents, and the role of retrieval in agentic workflows.
- Comfort with ambiguity, transitioning between strategy and execution.
- Ability to influence and align cross-functional stakeholders without formal authority.
