About the Role
Lunar Energy is seeking a Corporate Development Manager to be the analytical engine behind the company's growth strategy. This role involves building and owning financial models that inform key decisions regarding product sales, market entry, and strategic partnerships or acquisitions. The position offers direct collaboration with senior leadership and exposure to high-impact strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Build and own complex financial models, including commercial models, product unit economics, and project finance structures.
- Evaluate financing structures for products, understanding cash flow waterfalls, customer contracts, residual value, tax equity, and partner profitability.
- Analyze the unit economics of hardware and software solutions to identify key drivers of margin.
- Evaluate strategic partnerships and potential acquisitions end-to-end, including market sizing, diligence, valuation, and recommendations.
- Prepare board, investor, and lender materials, and present work to senior audiences.
- Build simple internal tools and dashboards with AI to enable self-service for recurring questions.
- Own Finance's relationship with Markets and Data Science teams, utilizing proprietary data for commercial decision-making.
Requirements
- 3–6 years in investment banking, project finance, management consulting, or a strategy/financial modeling role at an energy company.
- Hands-on project finance experience, including cash waterfalls, sensitivity analysis, cost of capital analysis, term sheets, and lender conversations.
- Advanced Excel skills with the ability to build robust, understandable models and write additive macros.
- Basic knowledge of advanced modeling and analysis tools like Python for complex analyses.
- Confidence using AI for developing internal tools and dashboards, with curiosity about its broader applications.
- Strong commercial analytics skills to derive unit economics from complex business scenarios.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating complex analysis into clear recommendations and board-level material.
- Ability to confidently explain and defend assumptions to senior stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel frequently.
- Flexibility to work some evening hours to collaborate with colleagues in California.
