About the Role
At Vanguard College Prep, we are looking for educators ready to help students realize their potential. We hire full-time professionals to build lasting core skills, treating every student as an individual to prepare them for top-tier colleges and beyond.
Responsibilities
- Instruct small groups of students in English core skills to promote long-term understanding and top scores on college readiness exams (ACT & SAT).
- Track student progress through Vanguard’s multi-phase curriculum, engaging them in individualized growth opportunities.
- Maintain and update student lesson schedules, hold students accountable for assignments, and model professionalism through timely communication.
- Spearhead the development and creative execution of evolving lesson plans and curriculum.
- Guide middle and high school students with empathy, understanding the competitive and stressful nature of the college application process.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a humanities field (English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Publishing, etc.) from US Schools.
- 1+ years of teaching experience in English and/or experience working in a college-level Writing Center.
- Demonstrated academic excellence (e.g., 3.5+ GPA).
- Strong verbal skills and mastery of the English language.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites.
- Access to a reliable internet connection and a workspace with minimal noise/distraction.
- Commitment to work during specific hours: Tuesdays to Thursdays from 1:30 pm to 9:30 pm CST, and Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm CST.
- Experience teaching at the college or community college level.
- Robust understanding of classroom pedagogy and the ability to create customized, engaging lesson plans.
- Desire to help students recognize, reach for, and realize their fullest potential.
- A dynamic and outgoing personality.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
