About the Role
The Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal (WSIAT) is seeking a motivated and experienced IT manager to lead and deliver the WSIAT’s portfolio of IT business application solutions. This hands-on role involves directing software development and quality assurance for internally developed and externally sourced applications, utilizing Microsoft-aligned platforms. The ideal candidate possesses a software development background, team leadership experience, and a product management mindset.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of C#/.Net/SharePoint/website software developers in delivering business solutions.
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for IT business solutions, including planning, development, testing, maintenance, evaluation, and coordination of software development initiatives.
- Lead innovation, integration, and standardization in software development processes and structures.
- Consult extensively with clients throughout the Tribunal to meet their needs.
- Provide end-to-end support and product management for the Tribunal’s portfolio of business application solutions.
- Oversee the selection and management of IT application solution service providers.
- Manage a team of union and excluded software developers, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management.
Requirements
- A software development background with progressive growth through team leadership and software development supervision/management.
- Experience overseeing product roadmaps for business-critical software solutions.
- Senior I&IT strategic and operational leadership skills.
- Hands-on expertise in software development methodologies, application architecture, and systems modernization.
- Knowledge of business systems analysis, design, implementation, testing, and risk management.
- Knowledge of data and information management practices, processes, and enabling technologies.
- I&IT project management knowledge.
- Knowledge of and practical experience with emerging technologies in modern software environments (cloud-native platforms, AI-enabled tools, automation, APIs, low-code, secure on-premise and hybrid architectures).
- Experience with budget and financial management practices.
- Knowledge of software tools, legacy and modern development languages and platforms, and database technologies.
- Knowledge of human resources practices, policies, and procedures for staff management and development.
