About the Role
The Recreation Aide reports to the Recreation Manager and is expected to demonstrate commitment to resident well-being while focusing on emotion-based person-centered care by implementing high-quality activities in accordance with the organization's vision and mission.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Recreation Manager in calendar planning and program development of recreation activities designed to meet individual needs and interests, according to established standards.
- Implementation and evaluation of resident’s levels of dementia.
- Mental health and younger population programming leadership.
- Willingness to make meaningful connections with residents.
- Demonstrate increasing an individual's well-being and meeting residents where they are at.
- Organize supplies and equipment as needed.
- Set up program area as needed.
- Keep attendance and document Resident participation in activities.
- Encourage Residents to attend programs.
- Assist residents to and from programs.
- Meet an individual’s physical and personal care needs to a high-quality standard and with sensitivity.
- Perform any other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to read, write and understand English.
- Highly organized and able to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must enjoy working with the elderly in a setting that promotes optimum independence, dignity and respect.
- Ability to use imagination to engage others.
- Must have high energy and a sense of fun.
- Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.
- Ability to have meaningful engagements with others.
- Clear vulnerable sector screening (within last 6 months).
- Recent TB test results (within last 6 months) or Chest X-Ray (within last 1 year).
- Two supervisory references required.
