About the Role

La Scuola seeks an English Language Literacy Specialist to support our elementary effective immediately. The individual will be an integral part of our Teaching and Student Support teams and will be responsible for developing the English Language curriculum for students in Kindergarten through Grade 2 and supporting English language learning at the Elementary level.

Responsibilities

Plans, organizes, and provides instruction in English across elementary grades, ensuring consistency with the instructional program to meet or exceed learning targets.
Develops and delivers lesson plans using differentiated techniques to enhance students' reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
Addresses learning strategies, study skills, developmental issues, executive function systems, social and emotional wellness, and other learning challenges.
Administers academic and language assessments to evaluate student progress and maintains accurate records.
Provides a nurturing, supportive, and positive learning environment with high expectations.
Collaborates with homeroom teachers to connect English literacy with units of Inquiry and Italian language instruction, including co-teaching and small group work.
Plans and delivers literacy interventions for individual and small groups in collaboration with the Student Success Group and Pedagogical Team.
Performs other duties as assigned by the school.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree and/or Master's degree in Education or a related field.
3-5 years of teaching experience.
Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Prior to beginning work, employees must provide documentation to prove eligibility to work in the United States.
Final candidates will need to pass Criminal Justice Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance.
Final candidates must pass a physical exam.
Final candidates must provide a recent copy of a negative TB test and other immunization records.

Skills

Experience in bilingual education, International Baccalaureate and Reggio Emilia philosophies is a plus.
Fluency in Italian and/or Spanish is a plus.
